The Full Moon of May 1st 2026

Illumination, vitality, and the power of new life at Beltane

I always love the light of the full moon, its vibrance and energy always seem to come just at the right moment and in the right way for inner alignment, it carries me for weeks.

There are certain moments in the year where the energy feels unmistakably alive where nature is not quietly awakening, but fully expressing itself and the Full Moon on May 1st arrives at exactly that point.

Moon's cratered surface in the foreground with Earth rising in the distant background against the blackness of space.

It coincides with Beltane which is an ancient fire festival that marks the height of spring and is the threshold of summer. This is a time traditionally associated with vitality, fertility, creativity, and the full expression of life force.

When a Full Moon meets Beltane the effects are not subtle. It is expansive, illuminating, and deeply activating.

A Full Moon always brings:

  • Illumination.

  • Heightened awareness.

  • Emotional amplification.

  • the rising of what has been building beneath the surface.

It reveals what is ready to be seen and it brings clarity to what has been unclear, it gives us a moment so we can release, not with force but with recognition.

Beltane has long been honoured as a time of fire, passion, growth, fertility, creation, and expression. It is a celebration of life in motion. Traditionally, fires were lit as symbols of purification, protection and the ignition of new energy.  It marks a shift from the inward reflection of winter and early spring into outward expression, connection, and creation.

When these energies combine the Full Moon brings light and Beltane brings fire. Together, they create a moment that asks: What is ready to come fully alive in your life?

This is not a quiet, reflective pause, it is a point of activation and action, so you may notice:

  • Heightened energy or restlessness.

  • Clarity around what you truly want.

  • An urge to create, connect, or move forward.

  • Awareness of what is no longer aligned.

This is the natural movement of this time of year.

Rather than trying to control or suppress what arises, this is a moment to work with it consciously.

1. Acknowledge What Has Come to Light

What is being shown to you right now?

Where are you being asked to be more honest with yourself, your direction, or your desires?

Clarity is a gift, even when it challenges you.

2. Release What No Longer Fits

Full Moons are a natural point of letting go, but this doesn’t have to be dramatic.

It can be as simple as choosing differently, letting go of a pattern, or shifting your attention.

3. Set a Clear Intention for What You Are Growing

Beltane is about creation. What are you choosing to build, nurture, or bring into form?

This is a powerful moment to commit to a direction, anchor a vision, and begin moving with intention.

4. Honour the Fire Within

The symbolism of fire is central here. Fire transforms, energises, and brings life.

Take a moment, whether through reflection, stillness, or even lighting a candle, to acknowledge your own inner drive, your creativity, your will.

This Full Moon is not asking you to become something new, it is asking you to recognise what is already alive within you, release what is holding you back, and step forward with greater clarity and presence.

Moments like this don’t come to disrupt you they come to realign you so I invite you to stop, breathe, and align from within.

The combination of the Full Moon and Beltane creates a powerful opening, to see clearly, to choose consciously, and to move forward with renewed energy.

Take a moment. Feel what is present within you and around you and allow yourself to step into what is ready to grow.
